Cleo's Corner - St. Pete Beach Calendar

Welcome to Cleo’s Corner. I thought I’d explain one feature of this website that is heavily used and fun to explore—the St. Pete Beach Calendar shown on the top left side of the Home Page. But first, let me dispel a fear you may have. Think you have to know something about a computer to use stpetebeachtoday.com? Nope. If you can read the screen and move your right or left hand to click, you’ve got all the skill you need. The rest is just playing and having fun. So let’s start.

Using the St. Pete Beach Calendar: Pretend that it’s a Sunday night and you have nothing to do but you have guests you want to entertain. Simply go to stpetebeachtoday.com and click on the calendar shown on the top left under Things To Do. Click on November 22nd and the box you see to the left will appear. Notice that the time of the total event is right under the title (Sunday Bazaar Market – Pass-A-Grille 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. In the next entry it shows that at the Blue Parrot on Sunday they serve a special breakfast with $2.75 pints of Mimosas and Bloody Marys. And so it goes all the way to the end of the day. Simply click on the arrow on the right of the screen at the bottom to move the screen down, or, if you have a mouse that will scroll, roll the button until you see the time slot you are interested in.

You now can see by hour of the day and day of the month what is happening. But back to our scenario. It’s Sunday night and you want to listen to some music with your friends. To take a shortcut and only see music, go to the Show All box at the top, click on the arrow, choose what you want to see times for (let’s say music) and then click on Filter. You will see only music entries for every date in the calendar. Click on the date you are interested in, scroll down to the time slot you want and there will be what is happening then.

To Add an Event, simply click on Contact Us right above Site Help and Emergencies, click on the STEP 1 down arrow, click on Calendar and fill in the information. OR, you can email us your events directly at calendar@spb2dya.com. It will be reviewed and then posted within a 24-hour period. If you have one photo, you can attach it here. If you have multiple photos, simply e.mail them to us at photo_albums@spb2day.com (if you don’t use e.mail, then simply mail it to us via the US postal system at St. Pete Beach Today, P.O. Box 46482, St. Pete Beach, FL 33741).

So there you have it. An Events Calendar that is kept up to date by our staff using local newspapers and websites. Slowly as this site becomes well known, we hope that the businesses hosting special events or well-known bands will post them directly so we have the names of the bands. The beauty of this calendar is that is brings together in one place everything happening in St. Pete Beach. Enjoy and tell your friends.

If you would like to see a demonstration of how to use this site effectively, the Gulf Beaches Historical is hosting a What is the stpetebeachtoday.com website and what can it do for you? presentation at the museum located on 10th Avenue in Pass-a-Grille at 1 p.m. Bring friends, neighbors and anyone you think might want to have some fun and learn more about what is happening in St. Pete Beach. The program is geared for novices to computers, so even if you don’t have a computer come see what you might want to do at the Library or an Internet Café.
